Meet The Butcher

Anthony — 25+ years in the meat trade

From a young lad in a Benwell shop to running a family butchers on the road. This is my story, in my own words.

Chapter 1

It started in Benwell

I started out as a young lad in a shop in Benwell. That's where it began — and I've never really left it behind.

Chapter 2

G Hunter & Sons, Low Fell

G Hunter & Sons in Low Fell was a big chapter for me — honestly, some of my best days learning the trade.

Chapter 3

Grainger Market

Grainger Market will always have a special place in my heart. Serving people face to face in a place like that stays with you.

Chapter 4

Around the UK, Ireland — and a fair bit further

Over 25-plus years in the meat trade I've worked around the UK and Ireland, and further afield in Norway and the Falkland Islands. I've worked as a slaughterman and a butcher, and in production and management too.

Chapter 5

The people in the trade

I've worked alongside farmers, smallholders, butchers and all sorts of people across the industry.

Chapter 6

Then family became everything

Family became the thing that mattered most, and that journey is what led to The North East Mobile Butchers — a family-run business taking meat straight to people's doors across the North East.

Chapter 7

Old-school values, modern ideas

I'm just as into the technology side of things — web design and business systems — and finding ways to run a family butchers with old-school values and modern ideas behind the scenes.

Come and see for yourself

If you want advice on a cut, or you're not sure what pack suits you, just ask. That's the best bit of the job.
